Should Liberty Lake use districts to determine city council seats?

Currently, to be considered for city council position there is no requirement for residence besides living within the city for a defined amount of time. This seems to have served the city well so far.

As the city grows, could it create under-representation for certain neighborhoods?

A councilperson should make decisions for the greater good, but living within a certain area brings a different perspective which might affect decision-making.

The attached map shows the general areas where council members reside (in red). The dots in blue are those running for council who do not already hold a seat.*

Besides the clear lack of members from Legacy Ridge, it seems there is currently a good mix of representation from the populated areas within city limits.

    What do you think?
Should Liberty Lake consider changing to a by-district approach to council seats?
