    2019 Mayor/Council Member Election Information for Liberty Lake

    The City of Liberty Lake will have 5 positions up for grabs in the Nov. 2019 election.

    • Mayor – Steve Peterson
    • Position 1 – Robert Moore
    • Position 3 – Dan Dunne
    • Position 5 – Shane Brickner
    • Position 7 – Cris Kaminskas

    If you are interested in becoming a candidate, complete the Declaration of Candidacy form and submit it with the non-refundable filing fee.

    Filing fees are updated each election year. The 2017 filing fees were as follows:

      • Council Members – $48
      • Mayor – $150

    If you lack sufficient funds at the time of filing, you may petition per RCW 29A.24.091 / RCW 29A.24.101
    There are a number of ways to file for candidacy:

    • Online at https://www.sos.wa.gov/elections/candidates/Online-Candidate-Filing.aspx
    • In Person at the Secretary of State in Olympia, WA
    • By Mail – Send your Filing fee and Declaration to:
      • Candidate Filing, Office of the Secretary of State, P.O. Box 40229, Olympia, WA 98504-0229

    Requirements of Candidates:

    1. Candidates must be registered voters within the Liberty Lake district.
    2. Candidates must be a resident of the city for at least one year preceding his/her election.

    When to file:

    The five day filing period begins Monday two weeks prior to Memorial Day. All candidates must file no later than the Friday of that week.

    If you have any questions about the form or filing, you may call the Spokane County Elections Office (509) 477-2320.

    Liberty Lake Council Members are required to attend two monthly City Council meetings, which are held the first and third Tuesday of each month. Additionally, special meetings are sometimes called to take place outside of those required dates.
