    Cougar Sighting in Legacy Ridge

    UPDATE 07/23/2018 1:50 PM

Legacy Ridge resident, Meg Torrey, reported the following:

Department of Fish and Wildlife is trying to track down the person from the apartments who is putting out food and water on the walking trail which is why the cougar must be hanging around here. Plus, there are very dense bushes and Wild Aspen’s providing shade during this heat for the cougar and her cub. If you spot the big cat please call Dept of Fish and wildlife asap.

Before young men from all over the INW flock to Liberty Lake looking for a sugar momma, please note this is not that kind of cougar.
Seriously, cougars can be very dangerous for pets; while they rarely attack humans, it is possible.

Last week, a cougar was seen just outside of the Legacy Ridge community in Liberty Lake. It was reportedly walking on a path behind homes just northeast of the Country Vista Apartments. Residents reported the sighting to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) website.
The WDFW website offers some great information on what to do if you encounter a cougar. (or see below)

Be sure to stay alert when enjoying the outdoors this summer.
